Homeopathy is a safe
and gentle form of treatment, using remedies made from natural
substances found in the plant, animal or mineral kingdoms.
The specific preparation of the remedies used in Homeopathy
is thought to act on a energetic rather than a material level.
A Homeopath will aim to obtain as full a picture as possible of the client, so treatment is of the whole person, not just the presenting disorder.
It is likely there are a number of factors leading to illness of any kind. The Homeopath will explore these factors with you and consider the best ways available to restore balance and health.
There are times when we all feel we need some help to move
onwards when we are stuck on any level, – Physical,
emotional or mental. Some people are happy to use Homeopathy
for a short time to see them over a particular hurdle, whilst
others prefer to keep in contact with their Homeopath for
longer, to maintain that balance in their lives.
Your first appointment.
Your first consultation will last about an hour and a half.
It will be in a comfortable, relaxed, environment and you will have plenty of time to talk. You should feel
that you have been listened to, and that some of the seemingly
separate parts of your life, including your illness, are
beginning to come together to make sense.
As well as talking about the difficulties you may be having
right now, we will consider many other aspects of your life – your work, your family, what you like to eat, how you sleep, your interests, etc. I
will be trying to gain as full a picture as possible of you
as a person, rather than a collection of symptoms.
It would be helpful if you could be prepared to answer questions about the following areas:
Past illnesses, even those you had in childhood,
what inoculations or vaccinations you have had
- Any illnesses suffered by members of your
family, such as cancer, tuberculosis, heart disease, epilepsy,
mental disorders.
- Medications taken, even if you no longer
use them.
About myself.
Born in London in 1952, I moved to Cornwall
in 1981. Much of my working life has been spent as a secondary
school teacher, and I was educated for my present career at the
College of Classical Homeopathy in Tiverton, Devon. I qualified
in 1986 and became registered with the Society of Homeopaths
in 1992. I also hold a certificate in counseling from Exeter
University.
As well as running my practice, I am employed as Senior Education Advisor for the Society of Homeopaths. I also co-ordinate Continuing Professional Development for Homeopaths in the South West, and offer supervision to homeopathy students and practitioners.
